Anurag Kashyap, one of a prominent directors of Indian cinema industry known for his works such as Gangs of Wasseypur and Sacred Games. His collaboration with Nawazuddin Siddiqui has a separate fan base as their films would have something different from mainstream cinema to serve to the audience. Now the filmmaker’s recent work “Choked” released in Netflix and garnering positive response from the critics and audience. As one of a promotional activity for his new film, the filmmaker participated in an interaction with a Tamil youtube channel and shared about his bond to the Tamil film industry. It is notable that Anurag Kashyap is an ardent follower of south Indian films as he even thanked Bala, Ameer and Sasikumar in the title card of Gangs Of Wasseypur for inspiring him to make the film. H even referred to Vasantha Balan’s “Angadi Theru” in Gangs of Wasseypur. Anurag is known among Tamil audience for playing villain in “Imaikka Nodigal” of Nayanthara.

In this film “Choked”, Anurag portrayed the lead character as a migrant who comes from Chennai. There is also a tamil folk song featured in the film. Talking about the recent film he watched from Tamil film industry, Anurag said that he watched “Asuran” and loved it so much. While talking about Tamil replacements for his recent films, Anurag said that he would cast Siddharth in “Dev D”.

For his blockbuster film “Gangs of Wasseypur”, Anurag said that he would replace Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Manoj Bajpayee with Dhanush and Vijay Sethupathi. The filmmaker revealed an interesting fact while talking about his psycho killer flick “Raman Raghav” which is a third collaboration of himself with Nawazuddin. Anurag said that the first choice for the lead role is Dhanush and said that he narrated the script to him. For the cop role which was played by Vicky Kaushal, Anurag said that he would replace him with Madhavan who excelled as cop in Vikram Vedha.

The best casting choice of Anurag is yet to come. While talking about the replacements for his most watched web series “Sacred Games, Anurag said that he wants Ajith to do the role of Saif Ali Khan and Vijay Sethupathi to do the role of Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Anurag also revealed that he reached out to Vijay Sethupathi to cast him in one of his movies. “But the film couldn’t happen at that time, it happened a year later. We actually wasted his dates.” the filmmaker said. Anurag says that he and Vikram were planning to do a project during their earlier days when Vikram helped them with the dubbing of the characters during the release of Satya in south. Satya is a 1998 film directed by Ram Gopal Varma. Anurag worked as one of a writer for the film.
