Director Lokesh Kanagaraj conducted a question and answer session with his followers post the success of Vikram starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Suriya and others. The filmmaker replied to many questions of his followers including to those who asked him about his upcoming project with Thalapathy Vijay and about their doubts in “Vikram”. Lokesh, as his first ever answer, replied to a fam who asked how Anbu played by Arjun Das returned in “Vikram” film as the timeline of it takes place after Kaithi’s.

Arguably, for the first time, director Lokesh Kanagaraj experimented “Multiverse” concept through his recently released film “Vikram”. Characters of “Kaithi” such as Bejoy played by Narain, Anbu, Adaikalam played by Arjun Das and Harish Uthaman respectively appeared in “Vikram” as same characters. Usually, these kind of crossovers would take place in Hollywood films, especially in Super hero films.

Fans welcomed the attempt of Lokesh with their whole heart which is evident through the reception the film receiving from the audience. Within 4 days of it’s theatrical release, “Vikram” reportedly collected Rs. 200 crore in the world wide box office.

Arjun Das who appeared in “Kaithi” as a spoilt brat who consumes drug and kills people effortlessly, would get beaten by Constable Napolean through a fire extinguisher after causing the death of one of those innocent youngsters. While audience were thinking that Anbu is dead, Lokesh brought him back in the “Vikram” universe as one of the henchmen of Rolex played by Suriya.

In the question and answer session, a fan questioned about the same by writing “how did Arjun Dass character alive after his death’ in kaithi can’t believe it” by adding “Ask Director Lokesh” hashtag.

Replying to him, the filmmaker said that only Anbu’s jaw was broken by the police but he is still alive. “Only Anbu’s jaw was broken by Napoleon in #kaithi, hence the stitch mark in #Vikram.. this will be explained further in #kaithi2 #AskDirLokesh” Director replied back.

While answering o the question, Lokesh also confirmed the sequel of the Karthi starrer Lokesh Kanagaraj who debuted through “Managaram” of producer S.R Prabhu, grabbed the attention of Tamil audience through his first film itself. During the final stages of the post production work of his second film “Kaithi”, Lokesh got this opportunity to direct actor Vijay, one of the very few highest paid actors in Indian film industry. After impressing the “Bigil” star with his intriguing script, Lokesh Kanagaraj decided to cast the busiest Vijay Sethupathy in the antagonist role.

After “Master”, Lokesh committed to direct his idol Kamal Haasan in “Vikram” which released recently and is running successfully in theatres. Post “Vikram” release, talking about the universe he created between “Kaithi” and “Vikram”, the filmmaker said “I could make a film anytime I want. If there is minimum budget, we could do a film with Mariyam George character of “Kaithi” alone. We could do a web series by having Bejoy and boys in the lead roles. Expanding an universe would open doors for many separate films. I was in doubt initially. Now, on seeing the response, I can work on it properly”

On the work front, Lokesh Kanagaraj is expected to join hands with Thalapathy Vijay again for a project which is tentatively titled as “Thalapathy 67″. The filmmaker is also expected to work on the franchise he created through ” Vikram”.
