On the morning of Tuesday, a group of DMK men destroyed one of the “Amma” canteens which is located in Chennai’s JJ Nagar. The video which is going viral in social media platforms shows a group of men breaking name boards and throwing vegetables on the ground. The incident happened after DMK won the Tamil nadu assembly election with a large margin. AMMA canteens were launched in the year 2013 by late AIADMK leader J. Jayalalitha to provide quality food at low price.

As soon the video of unlawful act went viral in social media platforms, around 50 people gathered at the spot and demanded against those who committed the crime. Police officers of JJ Nagar rushed to the spot and inspected about the crime. Many people including the politicians who belong to AIADMK party condemned the act of the miscreants.

Ma. Subramaniam of DMK said that the party had taken disciplinary action against the cadre who caused the outrage. The accused were identified as Navasundar and Surendran and the duo got expelled from the party according to reports. The tweet of Ma. Subramaniam said that DMK leader MK Stalin has directed the police officials to take legal actions against the duo. The newly elected Chief minister also ordered the members to relocate the name board of “Amma” in the canteen.

Subramaniam also added a video of the party members planting the name board of “Amma”. “மதுரவாயல் பகுதியில் அரசு உணவகத்தின் பெயர் பலகையை எடுத்த இரண்டு கழக தோழர்கள் மீது சட்டரீதியான நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவும், பெயர் பலகையை மீண்டும் அதே இடத்தில் வைக்கவும்,அவ்விருவரை கழகத்திலிருந்து நீக்கவும் வணக்கத்திற்குரிய கழகத்தலைவர் அவர்கள் உடனடியாக உத்தரவிட்டார்…” the Saidapet MLA said in his tweet.
