Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has recently expressed her outrage over paparazzi who allegedly invaded her privacy by taking pictures of her inside her own home using a zoom lens from an adjoining building. In a social media post, the actress denounced the act, stating that it was a “gross invasion of someone’s privacy,” and called on the Mumbai Police to take action against the photographers responsible.

The incident has sparked a larger conversation in India about the aggressive and invasive tactics of paparazzi, and several celebrities have come out in support of Bhatt, sharing their own experiences with the media’s violation of their personal space.
In response to Bhatt’s call for action, the Bandra Police contacted the actress and urged her to file a formal complaint. While Bhatt expressed her gratitude for their support, she revealed that her public relations team was already in touch with the publication responsible for publishing the photos and that she would make a decision on further action before filing a formal complaint.

In her Instagram story, Bhatt shared the photos that were taken of her and expressed her shock and anger at the blatant disregard for her privacy. “Are you kidding me?” she wrote. “I was at my house, having a perfectly normal afternoon, sitting in my living room when I felt something watching over me. I looked up and saw two men on the terrace of the neighboring building with a camera right at me. In what world is this okay and is this allowed? This is a gross invasion of someone’s privacy. There’s a line that you must not cross, and it is safe to say that all lines were crossed today.”

The incident has raised questions about the ethics of paparazzi and the responsibilities of media outlets in protecting the privacy and dignity of public figures. While the Indian government has implemented various laws and regulations to safeguard individuals’ privacy, including the right to privacy enshrined in the Indian Constitution, there is still a pervasive culture of voyeurism and invasiveness in the media industry.
Alia Bhatt is known for her work in Hindi-language films and is set to make her Hollywood debut in the upcoming action thriller Heart of Stone, alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. She also has several projects in the pipeline, including the highly anticipated romantic drama Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, which is directed by Karan Johar and co-stars Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi.

It remains to be seen what further action, if any, will be taken in response to the incident, but the conversation around the issue of privacy and celebrity culture in India is likely to continue.
Actress Anushka Sharma also recalled about similar privacy invasion that she faced a couple of years ago, during the birth of her child Vamika. Actor Arjun Kapoor came up with a story in his Instagram handle to call out the miscreants as well. Alia Bhatt shared their posts in her story space in a way of expressing her gratitude.
