India won majority sessions and stayed on top on Day 1 of the third Test against the visitors. Local boy Axar Patel bagged six wickets to restrict the Root-led team to 112 runs. England Opener Zak Crawley scored the most runs for him team (53 runs). Ravichandran Ashwin picked three wickets whereas Ishant picked an early wicket for team India.

However, as soon as starting day 2, wickets started falling in a regular interval for India and the team got all out for 145 runs. English batsmen came in to bat with a trial of just 33 runs. The team, after coming to bat, started losing wickets from the very first ball.
