Prominent members of Tamil television industry and cinema industry expressed their emotions after knowing aboutyoung actress Chithra’s demise. Chithra’s co-stars Kumaran, Venkat, Sujitha and Vijay TV stars also uploaded social media posts to let their followers know about their mind state. Cinema actresses Aishwarya Rajesh, Aathmika also posted tweets to offer their condolences.


Deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the death of actress #Chitra. A very promising and gifted artiste who has gone too soon! People must realise that suicide is not a solution to problems and as a society, we need to emphasize this fact more strongly than ever before!” said Aishwarya Rajesh through her tweet after knowing about Chithu’s death.

Kumaran Thangarajan who played “Kathir” opposite to Chithra in “Pandiyan stores” serial, uploaded a story in his Instagram account saying “You were known for you boldness. To many women you were an inspiration. I wish you had fought back. This was not an answer, never will be”

Her another co-star Venkat who is also acting with her in “Pandiyan Stores” serial said that he never expected such decision from her. He wondered how Chithra, a daring girl did this to end her life.


Sujitha Dhanush, main lead of “Pandiyan stores” serial also uploaded a post expressing her love towards Chithra.


Actress Athmika of “Meesaya Murukku” uploaded a tweet writing “Oh dear you don’t deserve this! I still wish this news is untrue #vjchitra”

“Cooku with Comali” fame Sivangi uploaded an emotional post saying that they were dancing together yesterday. “Akka we were dancing and singing together happily yesterday. It is not even 24 hours and you are gone. why did you do this. Rest in peace Chithu akka” she said in her story.

Many other friends, fans and colleagues of Chithra couldn’t resist themselves from sharing their pictures with her.


Television actress Chithra, popularly known as VJ chithu or “Mullai”, committed suicide in a star hotel by hanging herself, according to reports. It is believed that she killed herself in a star hotel that is located in Nasarathpettai near Poonamallee. She was recently engaged with a man named as “Hemnath” and was expected to get married with him soon.

The 28 year old beautiful actress who has been impressing TV audience with her performance as “Mullai”, was pretty active in social media platforms till yesterday. According to Thanthi tv , Chithu was staying in a star hotel that is located in Nasarathpettai to take part in the shooting of “Pandiyan stores” which is being held in the EVP film city, Poonamallee.

As Chithu’s house is located in Thiruvanmayur, she found it difficult to travel in daily basis due to the constant rain in Chennai. She decided to stay in a hotel that is located near the shooting spot and was staying in the star hotel with her fiance.

At the wee hours of Wednesday, Chithu went to bathroom to bath after informing Hemnath, according to the report of Thanthi. Even after a long time, she didn’t return. When the door was knocked, there was no response. Workers of the hotel broke the door and got shocked on seeing Chithra hanging.

Police officers of Nasrathpettai were informed immediately and arrived at the spot. Chithra was admitted in a nearby government hospital where she was declared dead by the doctors. Now, her body was sent to Kilpauk government hospital for post mortem. The report of Thanthi suggests that Chithra and Hemnath were involved in an argument last night.
