Agni Foundation Empower’s Women Through It’s 300 Startup Initiative – 300 Women CEOs !!

300 Startups is a Knowledge Initiative from Agni Foundation is intended to kindle the entrepreneurial spirit of the students and will have women CEOs for all 300 Startups as that’s one of the prime goals of the Foundation.

This initiative was born from “IGNITE INDIA” a science innovation conference for school children that has been running successfully for the past 4 years across Tamilnadu, India.

300 Startups is primarily focused on the students of AGNI College of Technology, where students from all the 4 years will form 300 teams, they will be facilitated and guided to start a company. These Startups will focus on Government Departments of Tamilnadu and will strive to solve an issue pertaining to that department. Faculty members, IAS officers, Entrepreneurs and experts from industry will be mentors to these Startups. Even global institutions like Harvard will guide these students.

Entrepreneurs and experts from the industry will be mentors to the team and shall guide them on the ventures that they have undertaken.

This will inspire the young minds and in turn will generate more employment opportunities for the state. This citizen centric approach will provide a lot of benefits for the people of Tamilnadu like speedy solutions, friendly approaches, effective utilisation of benefits from government schemes, reducing costs etc., Further this will lead, increase in consumption, leading to upgradation of lifestyle, improving socio-economic status of the State and will bring in more investments.

Agni Foundation has been spearheading Science Innovation through its “Ignite India”. The Foundation has focused on children who deserve a supporting hand. The Foundation is headed by an Harvard Alumni with passion for education and social upliftment. He had won a lot of recognition as an Ace Swimmer for the Country, that includes National and International competitions. He conceptualized “Ignite India” as a tribute to our late President Shri APJ Abdul Kalam. This is a nation-wide innovation platform for student innovators and young entrepreneurs in high schools and colleges. So far, Agni Foundation has hosted 96 Regional Innovation Conferences and 3 National Innovation Conferences across 36 cities in India where over 2,30,000 students from 7200 high-schools have competed to showcase their innovative creations. These innovations were judged based on the practicality, creativity & sustainability by technical experts from diverse fields. This event has witnessed Global leaders Barrack Obama and is also recognised by the UNITED NATIONS.  Besides, this the foundation does a lot of social upliftment activities in the areas of disasters, calamities etc., The Foundation’s contribution during Tsunami, Chennai Floods, Kerala Floods, Gaja etc., were noteworthy.

Agni Foundation’s focus has been on spreading Knowledge especially,  ‘Science’. The foundation has extended so far over 5000 scholarships to deserving students to pursue engineering education. Apart from this, the foundation has encouraged students with talent and enabled them to pursue their dreams.

Students supported by the foundation have gone ahead and received National Recognition :

  • KA Villet Oviya from Trichy developed 500g Anita-SAT that packed in a conical capsule took off in a helium balloon from Mexico.
  • T Ariharan, a 19 year old inventor was selected as ‘Best Invention of Tamil Nadu’ under state category by International Society for Scientific Research and Development (ISSRD) and selected as one of the best eleven ideas of India by Falling Walls lab, a German based international competition.

Shri RN Jayaprakash, Managing Trustee in his address to students mentioned about the importance of engineering education and AGNI College’s focus on developing entrepreneurs and empowering women.

Ignite India: Agni Foundation’s flagship event initiated during the first week of November travelled across Tamilnadu’s over 30 districts during the past 3 months. Ignite India was welcomed by over 1000 schools and witnessed a participation of over 10000 students. Every student was encouraged by their schools into showcasing their science innovations to a very eminent judging panel. All the winners from districts are here to showcase their projects at the Agni  college of Technology today (Feb 4th,2019). The finalists will be chosen by our acclaimed judges Dr Sultan Ahmed Ismail and Dr T S Natarajan (Director, IIT, Tirupati).
