Instagram has decided to roll back some recent changes to the app after receiving severe backlash from it’s users for the “Tik-Tok” style design. Considering the feedback, the app makers had said that they are pausing the full screen test on Instagram. They also promised to decrease the number of recommendations people in their feed to improve the quality.
Changes in Instagram upset a lot of users across the globe. Several users raised their voice against the updates and complained that they are forced to upload reels as the engagement fir static posts and pictures has gone down.
Several users of the photo/video posting app including Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian who between them having 686 million followers on the platform, shared a message saying “Make Instagram Instagram again” complaining that it was “trying to be TikTok” instead of focusing on photo sharing.
Check out some of the reactions below :
Spiritually, Instagram is dead. I now have 2 Tik Tok apps on my phone. And to top it all off, Tik Tok’s algorithm is far superior at serving me content that I actually want to see which basically renders Instagram useless. What a shame.

Holy shit, how does instagram just keep getting worse? I can’t even see the art/pictures of folks i follow anymore. Just frustrating UX and non stop reels. Like bruh if I want to get a tik tok like experience, I’ll just use tik tok? 😩

Why the fuck I’m seeing post after post from people I’m not even following on Instagram? And, please make Instagram Instagram again. Instagram used to be about sharing images but Instagram is now just Tik Tok 💀

Instagram is slowly turning into a wannabe Tik Tok. They need to just stay as a photo app.

If Instagram wants to be Tik Tok so bad they could at least give us decent video editing features

instagram is going to be a dying platform if it continues to be tik tok in relation: video orientated.
i’ve had to literally go down my own followers / following to access every single account and support others that way instead of my own feed, full of the same people and reels.

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri said that the company is taking a big step back in the midst of making the major changes after the app faced widespread criticism for it’s recent update. “I’m glad we took a risk. If we are not failing every once in a while, we are not thinking big enough or bold enough”
Reacting to the frustration users faced, Mosseri said that Instagram was going to become more video focused over time and was planning to still support photos. He also said that the recommendations made in the feed of the app didn’t impress followers and expressed his thoughts about regrouping.

Responding to the complaints, Meta Spokesperson told the Hollywood reporter, “Based on our findings and community feedback, we are pausing the full screen test on Instagram so we can explore other options, and we are temporarily decreasing the number of recommendations you see in your feed so we can improve the quality of your life experience”
“We recognize changes to the app can be an adjustment, and while we believe that Instagram needs to evolve as the world changes, we want to take the time to get it right” the spokesperson further said.
