Adipirush to be banned! The All India Cine Workers Association has recently written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to intervene and impose a ban on the movie Adipurush. The letter requested the immediate cessation of the film’s screening in theaters and on OTT platforms, while also calling for legal action against the director, Om Raut, the dialogue writer, Manoj Muntashir Shukla, and the film’s producers. The reason behind their plea is the alleged defamation of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, as they believe that the screenplay and dialogues of Adipurush have hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and followers of Sanatan Dharma.

The letter emphasizes that Lord Ram holds a sacred place in the hearts of Indians, regardless of their religious beliefs, and that the portrayal of Lord Ram and even Ravan in Adipurush is deeply offensive. They describe Ravan’s appearance as resembling a character from a video game and express their dissatisfaction with the dialogues, which they believe insult every Indian both in the country and around the world. The All India Cine Workers Association also criticizes actors Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan for being part of what they consider to be a disrespectful and disgraceful movie that has shattered their faith in Shri Ram and Ramayan. They go as far as to label Adipurush as a complete disaster for their religious beliefs.
Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, was released nationwide on June 16 and is available in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil. The film features Prabhas in the role of Raghav (Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita), and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Ravan).
The All India Cine Workers Association’s letter reflects the growing controversy surrounding Adipurush and its alleged misrepresentation of Hindu deities. This issue highlights the sensitive nature of religious sentiments in India and the potential impact of cinematic interpretations of revered figures. The plea to ban the film and take legal action against its creators stems from a desire to protect and preserve the cultural and religious heritage of India.
