Kasthuri is an Indian film actress, model, TV show anchor and social activist. She began her acting career in 1991 in Kollywood and has been subsequently associated with Tamil films. Prior to acting, she has been a model.

Kasthuri debuted in the Tamil film Aatha Un Koyiley in 1991, and appeared in a number of Tamil films thereafter, including the horror film Rasathi Varum Naal, Government Mappilai, Chinnavar and Senthamizh Paatu alongside Prabu Ganesan in 1992.

Kasturi was the subject of a 30-minute documentary film Kasthuri: A South Indian Film star made by Richard Breyer and N C Rajamani in 1995.

Although Kasthuri initially retired from film after her Hindi short film The Bypass in 2003, she made a comeback in 2010 with the film Tamizh Padam. She recently did an item number in sequel of Tamizh Padam as well. 

She is also known for her controversial tweets and verbal spat with the followers of her. Constantly tweeting for the current happenings of the society, the actress now replied to 4 tweets of social media users who abused her in a very bad manner.

From Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar to South India’s famous actors like Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal, among others, celebrities wished Rajinikanth for his birthday. Kasthuri also wished Rajinikanth in her official twitter account which became a major verbal spat with the followers of her.

This tweet created a major calamity in the twitter timeline of Kasthuri as one of  a fan criticized her for not wishing for Bharathiyar but wishing only to a cinema celebrity.

In a way of answering him Kasthuri said that she wished Bharathiyar the before day itself. She also added that she is not responsible if he did not see her tweet.
