The severe cyclonic storm Gaja has wreaked havoc in the delta regions of Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management revised the death toll to 46 on Tuesday and estimated that over 251,600 people have been evacuated to over 500 relief camps. Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Thanjavur are among the worst-affected regions in the state.

While actors Suriya, Vijay Sethupathy and Sivakarthikeyan donated Rs 50 lakh, Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, respectively, lyricist Vairamuthu has donated Rs 5 lakhs. Vikram gave Rs 25 lakh towards the Gaja relief fund.

Actress Kasthuri is the latest to join the long list of celebrities and activists who are contributing towards ameliorating the plight of Cyclone Gaja victims in the delta districts of Tamil Nadu. She sent relief materials worth Rs 12 lakhs including 1,000 imported water filters-purifiers designed exclusively for usage during natural calamities.

She revealed at a press meet, “I am sending relief materials worth Rs 12 lakhs and plan to visit the places and meet those affected. Water filters, napkins, medicines and mosquito repellents and tarpaulins are being sent to them.”

Kasthuri is an Indian film actress, model, TV show anchor and social activist. She began her acting career in 1991 in Kollywood and has been subsequently associated with Tamil films. Prior to acting, she has been a model.

She is also known for her controversial tweets and verbal spat with the followers of her. Constantly tweeting for the current happenings of the society, the actress today shared a hottest picture of Jennifer Lopez from her official account and said that she is her role model.

The actress posted the pictures of her providing relief materials to the people of Delta districts in her official twitter account which received severe trolls. The actor also explained her take while confronting the comments.
