Yami Gautam is known among Tamil audience for acting in actor Jai’s Tamizh Selvanaum Thaniyar Anjalum”. The actress now caught in controversy for allegedly disrespecting a fan in airport. Gautam made her Hindi film debut with the comedy Vicky Donor which is now being made in Tamil as “Dharala Prabhu”. A recent video uploaded in Twitter, accused the actress for not receiving the Assamese pride “Gamosa” offered by a fan.

The actress went to Assam to inaugurate the Great Guwahati Marathon on March 1. At the airport, a fan tried to welcome the actress by putting a Gamosa around her neck without her permission. Without knowing about his intention, Yami pushed his hand away and her team told the fan to stay back.

Replying to this video, Yami through her official twitter account wrote “My reaction was simply self defense. As a woman,if I am uncomfortable with anyone getting too close to me, I or any other girl has every right to express it. I Dint’ intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments but it’s very important to voice out a behavior, inappropriate in any manner”

She posted another tweet saying that she is visiting Assam for the third time and asked her followers not to react after hearing a single handed story. “I am present here, in this beautiful state for an important event & shall always keep coming back .Peace & Respect”

She went on to star as a young wife in the crime film Badlapur, a blind woman in the thriller Kaabil, an intelligence officer in the war film Uri: The Surgical Strike, one of the highest-grossing Indian films. On the work front she is going to star in Ayushman Khuranna starrer Bala.
