India is going through a revolution. Starting with Tanushree Dutta, who put allegations on Nana Patekar for sexual harassment, more women have come out to share their story.
Popular singer Chinmayi Sripaada has accused veteran Tamil lyricist-poet Vairamuthu by alleging that she was asked to “cooperate” and visit him in a hotel but she refused.
In the wake of #MeToo movement, there are plenty of other women who have accused Vairamuthu on the basis on anonymity. But singer Chinmayi chose to tweet. She has recalled an incident that a concert organiser asked her to “cooperate” and visit Vairamuthu in his hotel room. She said this happened in 2005 or 2006.
AR Rahman’s sister Reihana said that she has also heard about sexual harassment complaints about Vairamuthu in the past. “It’s an open secret”, she said. In an interview to News7 channel, Reihana said that as soon as Rahman came to know about this incident, he asked “Is this news true?” and his sister told him about the incidents happened to others in the industry.
In many allegations against Vairamuthu, the lyricist actually used Rahman’s name to trap female singers. Reihana said that Rahman doesn’t know the industry secrets because he is someone who never entertained gossips. Talking about Chinmayi’s allegations against Vairamuthu, Reihana said that she believes in Chinmayi and support #MeToo movement.

“But I couldn’t accept the fact that Chinmayi and her mom were afraid of Vairamuthu. Rahman only introduced Chinmayi but her mom actually tortured me in one of my shows so they are not afraid of anyone, said Reihana.
