7. The National Art Gallery:

Yep, we know it might sound ludicrous to most of you, but Art Galleries and Museums have always been great places to go out with your beloved. The National Art Gallery in Chennai is one of the oldest art galleries in the country. Built in 1906 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee Indo-Sarasenic style, it was designed by the famous architect Henry Irwin. Even if you’re not interested in Art and artifacts, you can sit on the lawn adjoining the Gallery and experience a gala time with your ladylove.

6. A splendid evening at Kalakshetra:

If your beloved is in love with music and dance, then the best way to surprise her in Chennai would be to take her to Kalashetra. Recognized by the Government of India as an “Institute of National Importance”, the Kalashetra is a cultural academy which aims at preserving the art and cultural heritage of Bharatanatyam dance form and the Gandharvaveda music. Built across 99 acres of land, you can spend a nice and cozy evening on the beach institution, experiencing some brilliant and captive performances.

Although the name suggests some sort of archaic locale, it is definitely not so! After two back to back cultural escapades, a fun spot was definitely on the cards. The Queen’s Land is a theme part built over 70 acres of land. If you and your beloved are adventure freaks and always willing to try out something new, this one’s just for you. Besides, for that extra “we-time”, you can always avail the boat ride across the wide lake situated at the heart of the park.

4. Kapaleeshwarar Temple:

Temples and religious foundations seem synonymous to south India. So, if you’re in south India, you’d never be able to ignore the temples. Although there are a number of temples built in and around Chennai, we suggest you to take your love to the Kapaleeshwarar Temple. Built in the 8th century, during the time of the Pallavas, the temple is a quintessential exemplifier of the Dravidian School of Architecture. The sprawling lawn in front of the garden makes it a nice place to spend a relaxed and soothing afternoon. If you’re there, please note that the temple remains closed from 11 am to 4 pm.

We can definitely not write any listicle on Chennai and miss the Kollywood movies! And, once you’re in Chennai, you can hardly miss the giant posters of the films which adorn almost every wall of the city. The “masala” plots, the action sequences, the drool-worthy dance sequences make the Tamil films a great watch. So, if you want a great “we time”, go for a Kollywood film in any of the countless theatres.

2. St. Thomas Mount:

If you want to do something special for your lady love then take her to the St. Thomas Mount on a moon lit night—or better, on Diwali. St. Thomas Mount is a small hillock located in Chennai, near Guindy National Park, and captures a mesmerizing view of the city. There’s also a shrine, dedicated to Mother Mary, located atop the hillock.

Marina beach is a natural beach located at the heart of the city on the Bay of Bengal and a part of the Indian Ocean; it is the longest natural beach in the country. So, for that special “we time”, you can just take a long evening walk along the cascading water of the sea and be overpowered with happiness.
