Four upper caste men sexually tortured a 19 year old Dalit girl named as Manisha who belongs to Hathras Village in Uttar Pradesh. She succumbed to injuries in a hospital in Delhi in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident created huge outrage in the country as influential personalities such as Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Kangana Ranaut, Akshay Kumar voiced out for the victim and demanded immediate justice for her.

The girl went to collect animal fodder with her mother from a field on 14th of September. She was cutting grass with her family not too far off in a field. She was wearing a Salwar kameez, when the rapists dragged her by her dupatta and gang raped her.

She was later found with brutal injuries. Her tongue had a serious cut as the girl reportedly bit it in pain. To our shock, the accused also tried to strangulate her, according to the Superintendent of Police Vikrant Vir. The four accused named in the rape case have been arrested, according to the reports.

The victim was struggling for her life under the ventilator in an Aligarh hospital for around 3 days. Later, she was referred to Safturjung, Delhi on Monday. However, the conditions of Hathras rape victim failed to improve and hence she succumbed to the injuries. The accused who tried to kill the victim has been identified as Sandip (20).

Hope the culprits of this heinous crime will be brought to justice.” wrote Virat Kohli in his tweet condemning the act whereas Raina wrote “It pains a lot to even hear this. A girl from UP was tortured & gang raped at #Hathras has lost her life today. We need to take strict actions against the culprits.This needs to stop NOW, our women deserve every right to go outside without any fear.”
