A boy who was studying 10th standard got arrested after he found guilty of impregnating a 16 year old girl. The incident happened in a village located in Cuddalore district, Tamil nadu. The teen girl who gave birth to a baby boy, abandoned it in the bushes near her school.

The incident came to light after a student discovered the dead body of the baby boy and informed about it the assistant head master. The Police reached the spot immediately after the assistant head master informed the Police and they sent the body of the baby boy for post mortem to the Kamaraj Government hospital in Chidambaram.

Police officials suspected that one of the girl students might have given birth to the baby in a rest room in the school and threw it in the bushes. During the inquiry, a girl student confessed to giving birth to the baby and throwing it in the bushes.

“We identified the girl on Friday and she admitted it during the inquiry” said a Police source. The girl, reportedly told the police that she felt the delivery pain while attending a class and came to the toilet, on Thursday.

“There, she gave birth. Though she said it was a stillbirth, we suspect that the baby might have died because she was unassisted during the delivery. The girl allegedly cut the umbilical cord herself using a pen and came back to the class as per her initial statement” the Police source further said.

She reportedly told the Police that no one in her family knew that she was pregnant.  Further investigations revealed that a boy who is studying 10th standard in a private school was responsible for her pregnancy. Police arrested the boy under sections 5 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 5 (j) (whoever commits penetrative sexual assault on a child), 5 (j) (ii) (makes the child pregnant as a consequence of  sexual assault), 5 (l) (whoever commits penetrative sexual assault on a child more than once or repeatedly) and 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act 2012.

Police officials produced he minor in front of the juvenile justice board which sent him to the observation home. The girl was admitted to the Kamaraj government hospital for treatment.
