India pulled off a thrilling 11-run win over Afghanistan on Saturday in ICC World Cup 2019 clash in Southampton. With the win, India became only the third team in history to win 50 World Cup matches. Apart from the men in blue, five-time champions Australia with 67 victories and New Zealand with 52 wins are part of the elite list.

With the win, India also rose to the second position with most wins in the league stage of the tournament. India last suffered a defeat in the league stage against South Africa in Nagpur in 2011. Since then, the side has won 11 matches in the league stages of the tournament, only less than Australia, who have won 13 since 1999 World Cup.

However, unlike last 3 matches, the batting performance of the Indian team was no so impressive in this match with Afghanistan. Especially middle order batsmen such as Dhoni and Hardik pandya failed score runs when it is needed the most and struggled in a big time to middle it.

Afghani spinners executed the choke hold during the middle overs and slowed down Indian innings, especially after Kohli’s dismissal. With the onus on him, Dhoni was expected to guide India through the difficult period, but the the veteran finisher played out a slow knock and was eventually dismissed on 28 off 52 balls. Dhoni, with the pressure mounting up, went for the big swing, missing Rashid Khan’s straighter one completely and was stumped out. Incidentally Dhoni was stumped for the first time since 2011, as India slumped to their lowest total since Apr 2015 (when they have batted the full 50 overs).

He also said that it is a counter attack for the comment of Chennai Super Kings against Rashid Khan during their last game.

However, the troll was handled by Chennai Super Kings in a cool way who mentioned Dhoni’s skill of setting the field and guiding the bowlers. In their tweet they wrote “Haha. Comfortably lying on the bed watching him guide the bowlers! 🦁 #WhistleForIndia #INDvAFG #CWC19”
