In The Nidahas Trophy final match India defeated Bangladesh in the very last ball. The Match which consisted drama, action and emotions all through required 34 runs in the last 2 overs. As Vijay Shankar got out in the 5th ball off the last over, last ball required 5 runs to win for India where Dinesh Karthick was in strike. He connected the last ball in the middle of his bat which went through the extra cover all the way. His handy 29 off 8 balls took India to the victory, moreover it helped Indian fans to get rid of witnessing the atrocious celebration of Bangladeshi players.
While it is like that, Sri Lankan crowd, who were upset over the performance of Bangladeshi players, did the infamous naagin dance along with Indian supporters, leaving the Tigers distraught.
In the meantime, a Sri Lankan fan lifted Indian team’s superfan Sudhir Gautam on his shoulders after India’s win.
Then came the moment which wrote a new chapter in cricket history and earned immense respect for Rohit Sharma as captain. We have mostly seen captains do the victory lap holding their respective national flags. But Rohit held the Lankan flag which was token of gratitude for the local crowd who gathered in large numbers to support Team India. The gesture is being hailed as something that no other captain has done before in the history of cricket. Rohit waved Sri Lankan flag walking around the ground. Sri Lanka’s crowd shouted in support of India for his sweet gesture.
In the post-match presentation, Rohit appreciated the crowd’s support and said,
“Brilliant for the crowd who came out in numbers, on behalf of my team, would want to thank the Sri Lankan crowd for coming out and supporting the way they did.”
Karthik, who bagged the ‘Man of the Match’ award along with the entire team went on to thank the crowd for this massive support.
