Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited on Friday terminated the services of an employee citing poor performance after there was massive outrage over his derogatory remarks on the eight-year-old victim of the Kathua gangrape on social media.
Vishnu Nandakumar, an assistant manager of the Palarivattom branch of Kotak Mahindra Bank, made the post on FB spewing verbal abuse on the girl.
His comment went viral and scores of FB users came up against him. People started posting comments against him on the official page of the bank. Even the bank received calls demanding action against him.
Vishnu, referring to the 8-year-old girl had said on Facebook that it was “good that she was killed at this age itself. Else, she would have grown up and returned throwing bombs in India”.
Vishnu comes from a family of local RSS and BJP leaders in Kerala. He has deleted his Facebook account since the controversy.
This instantly invited angry remarks from hundreds of users who also started the campaign with hashtag #dismiss your Assistant Manager Vishnu Nandakumar#. They also reportedly bombarded the bank’s branches with calls, seeking his removal from service.
The time of the post is not clear, however, the hateful post was widely shared and the bank’s Facebook page was flooded with demands for the manager to be sacked.
The hashtag #Dismiss_your_manager trended on Twitter after the micro-blogging platform was flooded with tweets.
“We have terminated Vishnu Nandakumar from services of the bank on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, for poor performance. It is extremely disheartening to see such comments being made in the aftermath of such tragedy by anyone, including an ex-employee. We strongly condemn this statement,” reads a statement issued by the bank on its Facebook page on Friday evening. Son of senior RSS leader E N Nandakumar, Vishnu is also a close relative of BJP state general secretary A N Radhakrishnan.
Meanwhile, E N Nandakumar , senior RSS Leader , And Father Of Vishnu claimed his son had resigned from the bank a month ago after he got another job. The RSS leader added that Vishnu had admitted the mistake and tendered an apology on his Facebook page.
